SHOULDERS:
PHYSICALLY: The region of the proximal humerus, clavicle and scapula.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: Used to express duty or obligation–taking the weight of the world
on one’s shoulders or our problems in life. The shoulders are the go between the emotional
powers of the body and the expressive elements of the arms and hands. Imbalanced energy
could mean a person is annoyed at her/his life and may want to strike out, but holds their
energy back. Represents our ability to carry out our experiences in life–we make life a burden
by our attitude. Inability to free oneself of old family values, beliefs and commitments
regarding their relationship to responsibility. Not feeling joyful about their responsibilities.
Resentment towards their responsibilities. Pain between shoulder blade - fear of vulnerability
to open their heart centre.
ARM PIT:
PHYSICALLY: One of the areas in the body that contains lymph nodes or immune tissue.
The health of this area is important for maintaining a strong immune system as well as
clearing toxins from the body. The Armpits work with controlling the body’s water and salt
levels and temperature.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: Extreme nervousness can cause overactive sweating, whereas colds
and diarrhea may produce underactivity and possibly dehydration. Either can be caused by
drugs. Manifesting issues around vulnerability and intimacy. Fear of being themselves or
of letting go of toxic things/people in one’s life. The arm pits express one’s emotions (water)
and when covered up by deodorant can represents one’s desire to hid/deny one’s feelings.
Right armpit is guilt over how they go about doing things and their way of handling life.
Left is feeling shame for having feelings, motivations, intentions and values that they have.
ARMS:
PHYSICALLY: The hollow beneath the junction of the arm and shoulder.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: The arms are involved with the doing and expressing aspect of oneself
and the way one handles themselves in the world; also the giving and receiving action. The
arms radiate out from the heart and serve to ground you with respect to the world of people
and things. They reflect our strength, the way we move through the world, the means we use,
giving and taking and reaching out towards goals. Also represents the capacity and ability to
hold the experiences of life. Lack of energy means the lack of ability to take hold of their life.
An indication of this is cold, clammy hands. Powerless in relationships and lack of initiative.
If the arms are flabby and underdeveloped it means sluggishness of action. Too much energy
means fear of letting go, insensitivity, treats people like objects and may use force to hold onto
what s/he wants. Difficulty in honest contact and communication. If the arms are thin and
tight it reflects a clawing, clutching person who may have problems keeping her/his attention
and expression focused.
UPPER ARMS:
PHYSICALLY: The upper extremity from shoulder to elbow.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: Conflicts about their ability to manifest their values and priorities
arising from a non-comprehending, dysfunctional, incomprehending, dysfunctional
incompetencing, belittling and/or accusatory family.
ESOPHAGUS:
PHYSICALLY: A muscular membranous tube for the passage of food from the pharynx to
the stomach.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: Connected to pride. Self-protection. Conflicted about what to take
in and may try to take in too much but is unable to process it. Distrust to all that the
Universe provides.
LUNGS:
PHYSICALLY: The Lungs function to remove carbon dioxide from the blood and provide it
with oxygen. When we breathe in, the Lungs provide the blood with oxygen; when we breathe
out, carbon dioxide and water, that are the Lungs' waste, are exhaled. But the Lungs in ad-
dition to its primary function, have to work extra hard getting rid of other foreign sub-
stances such as nicotine, air pollution (carbon monoxide) and formaldehyde (from building
materials).
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: Too much or too little energy in the lungs is a reflection of emotional
weakness. Possible inferiority, insecurity, depression or fear based feelings rather than con-
fident and self-motivated feelings. Feelings of anger, guilt, humour or humility may come
out. Limiting the amount of oxygen/prana in this area limits our feelings and can cause
anxiety. Inability to take in the life energy may mean s/he feels they are not worthy of living
life fully or stifled–feels lack of freedom.
HEART:
PHYSICALLY: Is the hollow, muscular organ that pumps blood received from the veins
into the arteries, thereby supplying the entire circulatory system.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: The breathing in of one’s life force takes place in the heart area.
The heart is our emotional constitution, disposition or mood. The heart is our area in
which we feel courage; and problems in this area indicate a state of chronic over self-
protection. Imbalanced energy in the heart prevents against hurt and attack but blocks
feelings of warmth and nourishment. When the heart is tender it holds emotions of
sadness, sorrow, longing, pity, depression, wanting and heartbreak. Love, security,
emotional problems, lack of joy is held in the heart area.
THYMUS GLAND:
PHYSICALLY: The Thymus plays some part in building resistance to disease and the heart
of the immune system.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: The thymus is affected by our withholding our emotions and heart-
felt truths when we know they should be expressed–holding in our values. Problems arise
when one thinks life is fighting against them.
STOMACH:
PHYSICALLY: The Stomach is one of the principle organs of digestion and controls the
appetite for food.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: The belly is connected to stomaching our emotions and passions,
and digesting our thoughts and connected to spiritual nourishing and our ego. Feeling
powerless and overwhelmed by life. Fear of their gut reactions, intuitive feelings and their
“inner voice.” Not trusting their capacity to make judgments. Undermined in their confidence
and self-trust at a young age. Low energy indicates lost touch with much of their personal
power. (Orange - easily hurt, Yellow - hypersensitive to rejection, and Red - abandonment
anxiousness.) Low energy in this area usually means a fragile personality such as quiet,
sensitive who seldom engages in forceful or violent actions. Swallowing anger lessons our
energy in the belly. Lack of self-issues (self-confidence, self-respect, etc.). Inability to assimilate
the new. Unable to digest reality- “digest life.” Inability to assimilate experiences with
incapacity to expand their consciousness and integrate new information. Full of dread and
fear of the future. Power issues.
PANCREAS:
PHYSICALLY: Is the gland that lies behind the stomach and secretes digestive enzymes and
produces insulin (irregular blood sugar could lead to diabetes).
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: The Pancreas creates energy for all mental and physical activities,
and processes the “sweets” of our life–love taken and given. Possible rejection. Difficulties in
integrating and expressing love. Sourness or bitterness regarding life. Desire to acquire goods
and friendships.
SPLEEN:
PHYSICALLY: The Spleen is a large dark-red ovoid organ situated on the left side of the body
below and behind the stomach. The Spleen functions as a blood filter.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: The Spleen is recognized as the seat of emotions and passions and
also connected to obsessions and possessions. The spleen is our barometer for our life energy
as it filters what we take in. It is related to our ability to trust in the future and our
developments.Also connected to obsessions and possessions. Excessive worry. Impatience,
over-attachment and possessiveness. Highly insecure.
LIVER:
PHYSICALLY: The Liver is the largest gland of the body and is situated in the top right
portion of the abdominal cavity. The Liver secretes bile, which drains into the gallbladder
before being released into the duodenum. The Liver acts in the formation of blood and in
metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, minerals and vitamins.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: The Liver organ reflects fear of the new, and is our system of digestion–
digesting ideas and processing life. It helps us to recognize our personal values in life.
Connected to primitive emotions. Chronic complaining and self-deception. Lacking in faith.
Hiding from themselves.
DUODENUM:
PHYSICALLY: The Duodenum is the first of the three parts of the small intestines. It receives
bile from the gallbladder and pancreatic juice from the pancreas.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: The duodenum controls our conflict capabilities and our self-
acceptance. On the imbalanced side on can have a profound sense of being alone on their
own, in an uncaring world. Possibly resultant from maternal neglect or parent-loss.
SMALL INTESTINES:
PHYSICALLY: The Intestines break down nutrients and water and transfer the result to the
bloodstream. It also takes care of waste from digestion, the Liver, and metabolism, and guides
it out of the body. Therefore, it is important that all foods are chewed properly– processed so
that the intestine does not allow the toxic waste to stay too long in the body, or it will lead
to constipation. The small intestine is the portal for absorption of virtually all nutrients into
the blood.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: Connects to analysis of our existence and to the refurbishing of our
thoughts and ideas. Mastering and coping with experiences. Assimilation difficulties

TRANSVERSE COLON:
PHYSICALLY: The Transverse Colon is the middle portion of the colon that extends across
the abdominal cavity.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: Not being open and truthful with oneself or others.
DESCENDING COLON:
PHYSICALLY: The Descending Colon leads to the rectum.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: Handles our spiritual impressions, unprocessed experiences and our
ability to let loose. Unable to be relaxed within yourself.
COLON:
PHYSICALLY: The Colon absorbs large amounts of water and electrolytes from the undigested
food passed on from the small intestine. At intervals strong peristaltic movements move the
dehydrated contents (feces) toward the rectum.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: Plagued by doubt, skepticism, cynicism and nihilism. Looking to
find faults in everything. Nit picking perfectionism inherited from a perfectionistic family.
Compulsion to help others in order to inflate a damaged ego or to manipulate others
resultant form feeling responsible to straighten out their own family situations.
Bottled up hatred.
LARGE INTESTINES
PHYSICALLY: The Large Intestine is the last attraction in the digestive tube and the location
of the terminal phases of digestion.
PSYCHOLOGICALLY: The intestines are connected to the elimination of negative energies
and thoughts. Problems arise here when there is a fear of letting go. Manifesting doubts,
skepticisms, cynicism and nihilism. Overly-judgmental.
